The mayor is planning on presenting us with four "Options" in November. Based on his comments at the last meeting of council, we will get the opportunity to "ask questions". This is definitely not community "consultation", or a planning exercise.

It is vital that you let the mayor, and councillors know  how you feel about the process, and demand real planning input from the community.

When the event occurs, attend the meeting.

Be skeptical, and vocal.

The city intends to demolish the "Annexe," which would mean losing over 40,000 sq ft of valuable community space.

Before any significant changes are made, the citizens emphasize the need for community consultation.

The City of Dorval have voted their
"Intention to Demolish" the convent
without having done any study
of alternate uses.
What do YOU want?

A 40,000 square foot community use space

or

A 10,000 square foot "Marc Doret" lawn
that will cost taxpayers about $6,500,000
(That is about $750 per Dorval household)
This is what should happen where the mayor is trying to do the right thing.
1 - There should be open houses or guided tours to ensure Dorval residents know what is there.
2 - There should be a series of charettes which are public meetings which bring together the public, architects, engineers, and city planners, so that several community based options can be developed for re-use of the space.
3 - The architects and engineers should produce preliminary cost estimates for renovation of the building.
4 - There should be an additional charette to choose among the options and finalize details.
5 - There should be a referendum to allow Dorval residents to choose whether to commit to the renovation of the building.
